Connect your VICIdial to Voxentra AI.

A GUI-first setup guide for VICIdial admins. Follow the steps below, keep the submission form handy, and we'll get your AI agent registered fast.

Before You Start

What You'll Need From Voxentra

We send these details to you first. Keep them open while you work through the setup.

These are example values. You can use any extension names, dial plan numbers, and agent IDs you prefer — just share your chosen values with Voxentra so we can match our configuration.

Step 1

Create a Phone Extension

This is the same as adding a new phone or agent to your system.

  1. 1. Log into your VICIdial admin panel.
  2. 2. Click Admin in the top menu.
  3. 3. Click Phones on the left sidebar.
  4. 4. Click Add a New Phone at the top.

Fill in these fields:

Dial Plan NumberPick any unused number like 800 or 8400. Write it down.
Server IPSelect your VICIdial server from the dropdown.

Step 2

Allow Voxentra's Server To Connect

Voxentra's AI server needs permission to register on your VICIdial. The easiest way is through VICIdial's built-in IP Lists.

GUI Method (Recommended)

  1. 1. Go to Admin → System Settings → find "Allow IP Lists" → set to 1 → save

  1. 2. Go to Admin → Users → click your admin user → set "Modify IP Lists" to 1 → save
  2. 3. Go to Admin → IP Lists → click "Add An IP List"
  3. 4. Set IP List ID to ViciWhite, IP List Name to Voxentra Whitelist - 34.40.107.81
  4. 5. Add Voxentra's IP 34.40.107.81 to the list → Submit

  1. 6. Wait about 60 seconds for the whitelist to activate (it syncs automatically).

Ask your server admin to run this command:

iptables -I INPUT -s 34.40.107.81 -j ACCEPT

Save it so it persists after reboot:

# CentOS/RHEL:
service iptables save

# Ubuntu/Debian:
iptables-persistent save

Then reload SIP:

asterisk -rx "sip reload"

Don't have server access? Send Voxentra's IP address 34.40.107.81 to whoever manages your VICIdial server and ask them to whitelist this IP and reload SIP.

Step 3

Create a Remote Agent

This tells VICIdial to send calls to the AI extension you just created.

  1. 1. Go to Admin -> Remote Agents in the left sidebar.
  2. 2. Click Add a New Remote Agent.

Click Submit.

Step 4

Test It

Once Voxentra confirms they see your extension as registered, make a test call.

  1. 1. Go to your campaign.
  2. 2. Load a test lead using your own phone number.
  3. 3. Let the dialer call it.
  4. 4. When you pick up, you should hear the AI agent greet you.

What Success Looks Like

  • You pick up the phone.
  • You hear the AI agent introduce themselves.
  • You can have a conversation with it.
  • Audio is clear both ways.
  • When you qualify, the AI transfers you to your closer.

Step 5

Set Up Transfers (Optional)

If you want the AI to transfer qualified leads to human closers, your server admin needs a transfer extension in the dialplan.

; In /etc/asterisk/extensions_custom.conf
exten => 8365,1,Dial(SIP/your-carrier-trunk/+1TRANSFER_PHONE_NUMBER,120,To)
exten => 8365,n,Hangup()

Replace:

  • 8365 with any unused extension number.
  • your-carrier-trunk with your outbound trunk name.
  • +1TRANSFER_PHONE_NUMBER with the phone number to transfer to.

Then reload:

asterisk -rx "dialplan reload"

Share the transfer extension number, like 8365, with Voxentra so we can configure the AI to use it.

Next Step

Submit Your Configuration

Once the steps above are complete, submit your SIP credentials from the Voxentra dashboard. This is where every live client manages their VICIdial connection today.

What you'll enter in the dashboard:

  • VICIdial server IP + SIP port (usually 5060)
  • Phone extension name (voxentra-ai) and registration password from Step 1
  • Optional transfer phone number or VICIdial extension
  • Confirmation that Voxentra's IP 34.40.107.81 is whitelisted on your server
Open Dashboard → Dialer Setup

Registration happens automatically once you save. Keep 34.40.107.81 whitelisted on your VICIdial server.

Troubleshooting

Common issues

Check How
Is our RTP port range open?Open UDP ports 16384-32768 to Voxentra's IP.
Is NAT configured?Your Asterisk should have externaddr set to the server's public IP.

Contact Voxentra with your transfer extension number and we'll verify the configuration.

Verify Your Setup

How to confirm it's working

Check if the extension is registered — run this on your VICIdial server:

asterisk -rx "sip show peers" | grep voxentra

What you should see:

voxentra-ai/voxentra-ai     34.40.107.81       D  Yes   Yes   5072   OK

If it says UNKNOWN or UNREACHABLE instead of OK, Voxentra's server hasn't registered yet — contact us.

Verify dialplan routing — run this on your VICIdial server:

asterisk -rx "dialplan show 800@from-internal"

What you should see:

'800' =>  1. Dial(SIP/voxentra-ai,120,To)
          2. Hangup()

If nothing shows, the dialplan entry wasn't created or wasn't reloaded. Run asterisk -rx "dialplan reload" and try again.

What To Send Voxentra If Something Goes Wrong
